USA ban convicted graft offenders

USA is the first country to implement an ban based on the 'shame list' published by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Upon application for US visa, the Embassy is now using the MACC database to conduct background checks on Malaysian applying for visas. MACC Commissioner, Datuk Seri Abu Kassim Mohamed, hopes that mores countries will follow the same procedure in order to effectively fight against corruption. The list issued by the anti-corruption agency is made of 672 names that are available online. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (Malay: Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia, (SPRM)) (formerly Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA)) is a government agency in Malaysia that investigates and prosecutes corruption in the public and private sectors.
